Shockwave Therapy Better Than Ultrasound For Heel Pain

A recent study in the American Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery has found that shockwave therapy is superior to ultrasound for treating heel pain. The study compared therapeutic ultrasound which is usually done in the physical therapist’s office with shockwave therapy administered by a podiatrist. The success rate for shockwave therapy was 60% better and worked well for patients with chronic fasciitis. Ultrasound therapy did not improve the pain levels for the majority of patients and required more frequent visits. At the Washington Heel Pain Center we specialize in treating plantar fasciitis and have both of these modalities available. If you live in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Issaquah, Tacoma, Everett or anywhere in the Northwest visit our office for the most advanced healing treatments available.
