Athlete's foot is the most common fungal skin infection, appearing as a rash on the foot. It is caused by a fungus that grows on or in the top layer of skin and spreads easily. An individual can get it by touching the toes or feet of a person who has it, but the most common way to get it is by walking barefoot on contaminated surfaces near swimming pools or locker rooms. There are many symptoms of athlete's foot and they are as follows: burning and itchy skin between the toes, peeling or cracking skin, soreness of the foot or fluid-filled blisters. Depending on the type of athlete's foot a person has, the treatment plans vary. They can include: lotions, creams or sprays and/or prescription strength medicines to put on your skin.
